New Features: PatchEasy v. 6.3

Named Master Agents

To assist with the management of multiple master agents, version 6.3 will allow users to specify names and a description for Master-Agents, implemented with the new FILE > AGENT > Connect/Configure window. Selecting a name from a drop-down list (see below) on the user interface eases connections to the desired Master-Agent.

Rollback (UnInstall Patches)

This feature will allow Windows (not Unix) administrators to remove patches (the same patches "Add/Remove Programs" lists) immediately or at a scheduled time. Patches can be uninstalled from target systems using the Uninstall Wizard.

Reboot Notification

This notifies Windows users with a "reboot message" so that they have an opportunity to close applications and perhaps logout. It is similar to doing a NET SEND command. The notification is setup during the patch-installation wizard dialogue.

Scan by IP Range or Subnet

Users will have the ability to locate all manageable (Windows and Unix) computers within an IP range or subnet mask, using the new "IP Scan" option. The IP range scanning will use multiple methods to identify all devices within an IP range. Once discovered, machines can be added to existing network-trees/domains (Unix/Windows) and/or groups (which can be nested). Reports are enhanced to display IP addresses.

Sun Solaris and Red Hat Linux Support

Sun Solaris and Red Hat Linux patch management for the following platforms (License must be "Unix Enabled")

Sun Solaris 8.0 (5.8 at boot) on SPARC (NOT Intel or AMD processors)
Sun Solaris 9.0 (5.9 at boot) on SPARC (NOT Intel or AMD processors)
Redhat Linux 7.3 on Intel & AMD (binary rpm packages, not source rpm)
Redhat Linux 8.x on Intel & AMD
Redhat Linux 9.x on Intel & AMD

In a similar manner (but not exactly the same) in which PatchEasy manages Windows machines (query, patch, validate, report) users will have the ability to manage RedHat Linux and Sun Solaris machines.

Multi-Locale Support

Several enhancements will allow the rapid release of additional patch locales beyond current English, German, French, Spanish and Italian. Eventually, following this version release, will be Chinese (Simplified), Swedish, Dutch, Portuguese (Brazilian), Danish, Korean and Arabic.

Database Size Reduction

Several technology approaches will reduce the size of the database during transference and the footprint it leaves in memory. This will result in faster database downloads and operations when the database is pushed to leaf agents.
